Today’s post has nothing to do with photography, but something that is on my mind. This is a picture that my husband took a few months before our dog Bo passed away last March. He was an English Springer/ Cocker mix that we adopted from a rescue association. We have missed him terribly and the grieving process never truly ends, but we feel enough time has passed that we are ready for another family member, specifically another dog.
We’ve been tirelessly checking shelters and spaniel rescue associations for one that is the right fit. Bo was 9 when we adopted him and this time around we are looking to spend a longer time with our pet so we’ve specifically been looking for one under 5. I’m very excited to say that we have an appointment to meet a few spaniels that have been rescued in NYC! I cannot wait, it will be very difficult to choose and I wish to take them all!
I wish I had pictures to share, but they have not been sent to me yet. I know that one has a thyroid condition, but it is treatable with an inexpensive medication. Another one just had some cancerous tumors removed, but is young and is in the clear!
We had considered buying a puppy, and maybe someday we will. But for now, we’d rather take one that desperately needs a home.
Having a pet, and for me a dog, is such a rewarding and fulfilling part of life. When I’m home alone editing pictures, I want him/her sleeping at my feet keeping me warm. I want to take him on runs, vacations and other adventures! So, if you are a Facebook friend or Instagram follower, get ready for an overly photographed spaniel filling your newsfeed! I promise, it’ll be cute.
